I wrote this after basically being cheated on in so many words and having to navigate through that grief and being retriggered to my past traumatic experiences. I think i’ve been cheated on in every relationship I’ve had in one form or another which can really affect self worth and esteem. The song also speaks about my codependency and neediness in relationships. I built a lot of the song around memories of me feeling alone as a child a lot before my brother was born. I don’t know if I got enough attention or not but I do know that my earliest memories are being alone or looking for my parents. I think that definitely affects my relationships, romantic or otherwise. Also not really seeing positive versions of love or
consistency. Everyone I know is divorced. I had to rebuild how I show up in a relationship from the bottom because nothing I’d been exposed to worked and that also has affected my relationship at times.
